Bear Tips.....we've had sightings in the area: Because bears have an incredible sense of smell, they can detect food sources over great distances. To deter them from visiting, take bird feeders in at night, don't leave dog food or dog food bowls out at night. Make sure grills are cleaned after use, as bears can detect smells from what was grilled, don't leave trash outside, and wait until the morning of collection to put trash in containers for pick-up. Bears are opportunistic feeders, and will go to, and return to, food sources that are the easiest to get.. They are lazy! None of us ever want to have a potentially devastating encounter with a bear!
